We are proud to be able to date the origin of our company back to 1857 when the Solport Brothers set up manufacturing in London. We’ve come a long way since those early days with a number of name changes along the way, all the time respecting our heritage and maintaining our status as a British manufacturer.
Starting as a family business, based in London our founding company was called Solport Brothers Limited. We have handwritten meeting minutes in our archive going back to 1915.
In 1978 our company was incorporated at Companies House under the name Avoca Pharmaceutical Products. At this time in our history we were operating from a site in Faringdon in Oxfordshire and our silver nitrate products were on the market under our Avoca brand.
Bray’s achieved it’s first regulatory approval for medical devices. Compliance with the MDD meant that Bray’s medical devices could carry the CE mark and be legally placed on the market in the European Union.
In October 2003 we became Bray Group Limited, a group name that we continue to trade under up to this day

Another regulatory approval, but this time for Bray’s pharmaceutical products. Securing our Manufacturer’s Licence, issued by the Medicines and Healthcare Products Agency (MHRA), supported our manufacture of licenced medicinal products and batch certification.
Our achievement of an ISO 13485 certification, in compliance with the Medical Device Directive, provided additional confidence that with Bray’s Quality Management System in place, high-quality products are consistently produced.
Bray Group Limited was acquired by Ethos Partners LLP in June 2024. This strategic partnership marks a significant milestone in Bray Group’s history, ensuring continued growth within the medical industry.
Bray’s management team, backed by Ethos, will lead the company into its next phase of development. This includes a strategic plan aimed at broadening international reach and developing existing products.
